Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Formation
The Altum Institute collaborates with the Office of Divine Worship to provide training for all Communion Ministers that are unable to receive training at their parish or wish to “go deeper” in their understanding of the ministry in which they are serving.
EMHC Formation Days
Next Training Workshop:
English: March 1st, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
-Catholic Pastoral Center
Spanish: April 5th, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
-Catholic Pastoral Center
The purpose of the EMHC Training led by the Altum Institute and the Office of Divine Worship is to provide those serving or desiring to serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion with an understanding of their role within the liturgy, and the spiritual realities that surround their role. It will cover both practical prompts and questions as well as help deepen their understanding of the great mystery of the Eucharist.

F.A.Q.
No. While this training will provide valuable skills and principles as well as practice to distribute God himself and serve the ministry well, the Pastor has the proper authority to install EMHCs at his parish with the approval of the Bishop. Please reach out to your pastor to ask for his permission to serve as an EMHC
This training is meant to supplement the training of the parishioners of parishes that provide training and serve and a basic training for those parishes that are unable to do so. Questions are encouraged as to help ensure that all levels of understanding are receiving some formation.
